Ultracapacitors, also known by name of Supercapacitors or Electrochemical Double Layer Capacitors (EDLC), represent a family of energy storage devices demonstrating extremely high specific power characteristics which outperform any known type of batteries, such as lead-acid, Li-ion and NiMH.
